Abstract

In 1987 the Road Traffic Authority (RTA) commenced two major traffic management studies for which public consultation was considered essential for public acceptance and the ultimate success of the studies. This paper reviews the use of self administered mail back questionnaire surveys by the RTA. Problems which occurred during the two traffic studies are discussed and suggestions for the design and conduct of future questionnaire surveys are made.
