Abstract

The construction of the A 71 motorway in France raised the problem of the use of local materials which could only give a low percentage of standard crushed aggregates. The use of High Modulus Mixes (HMM) with better mechanical properties than those of the standard base course mix allowed an optimal use of the local pit and a considerable reduction in all-in aggregate extraction and elaboration. Laboratory and in situ test results are discussed and shown to confirm the pavement design initial assumptions. (A) The German title of this article is: Die Verwendung der Örtlichen Zuschlägen mit Herabgesenkten Parametern zur Fertigung der Asphaltmischgüter mit Hoher Elastitätsmodull.
