Abstract

This paper summarizes recent research and practical hands-on experience in the use of residuals, surplus materials and byproducts gained through the design and construction of actual transportation products. This includes: waste glass in binder course asphalt concrete (Metro Toronto); rubber tires in surface and binder course asphalt concrete mixes (Region of Haldimand-Norfolk); and developments in the use of steel slag aggregates in hot-mix asphalt (Ontario).
