Abstract

The revitalised growth in motorcycle use throughout the world has been stimulated by fuel shortages, by the leisure aspects of motorised sport, by increasing city congestion, and by the increasingly rapid decline of public transport service levels. This paper outlines a wider content for the appraisal of motorcycle safety by taking a systems standpoint to identify areas of information lack and to trace some of these through from the viewpoint of the motorcycle user.
