For the purpose of providing drivers with "safe driving" assistance, the Metropolitan Expressway Public Corporation (MEPC) has implemented Safe Driving Support Systems along the Metropolitan Expressway. One component of the Safe Driving Support System is an early warning system known as a Latest Congestion Warning Board (LCWB) and is a system that has been installed in a total of 14 locations along the Metropolitan Expressway. By using a combination of characters and symbol marks, the LCWB is able to warn drivers of upcoming traffic congestion and to avoid rear-end collisions as a result of the traffic jam. MEPC has therefore conducted a questionnaire survey to gain user feedback on the LCWB's which have now been in use for approximately five years. The questionnaire survey primarily asked for user opinion and the request for improvement on the display board's level of recognition, current use pattern and the level of readability. The survey results have verified the effectiveness of the LCWB to the end-user.
