Abstract

A pilot project has demonstrated that it is feasible to use video cameras for bus lane enforcement. The project has developed conceptual models, techniques and procedures for advancing traffic camera enforcement for wider use. Bus lane offences, with their complex range of defences, require different technologies and techniques from those currently deployed for red-light cameras and speed cameras. The area scheme currently in preparation will build upon the findings of the field trial and subject the choice and extent of technology to market testing. (A)
