Abstract

This paper outlines research into the innovative use of the Internet, Interactive Voice Response systems, Paging and GSM cell phones to deliver real-time public transport information. The development of the "Superoute 66 Live" web site giving personalised and community wide real-time information on the Superoute 66 bus route is covered. Results of the trial of the site from the monitoring of daily usage, user surveys, ridership and on street surveys are described. It is shown that the provision of real-time bus information on the Internet is found to be useful by a significant proportion of those using the service. (A*)
