Abstract

In December 1992, the Queensland Department of Transport (Queensland Transport) commissioned the development of a public transport information system to service public transport commuters in South East Queensland. This paper outlines the development of this service giving personalised public transport information to commuters utilising ITS technology, the development and introduction of a public transport information web site and a natural language Integrated Voice Response System. Results of surveys on the service taken over the last 3 years are also discussed as well as the monitoring of comments and usage of the web site. Future developments on how the system and service can be improved are also discussed.
