Abstract

The need for inclusion of property damage vehicle data in analyses designed to determine the influence of safety-oriented component design modifications on occupant injury potential is examined. Previously obtained results were also examined to determine what characteristics noninjury data must have to support a hypothesis of injury reduction due to the use of an energy absorbing device. Property damage vehicle data are not essential in injury source analyses.
