Abstract

The paper presents an overview of how technology impacts automotive safety. Three pertinent areas of technology are discussed. (1) Simulation- its potential applications and inherent advantages and disadvantages. (2) The automotive recorder, which concentrates on the purpose of the recorder, its development, fleet selection, recorder installation, data and impact of this data on future automotive safety.(3) Data systems, which address the problems encountered when a dearth of data exists.
