Abstract
A good accessibility, not only of the city core as a whole but also of the single business in it, is of vital interest. Since 1973 there exist in Utrecht the elevated pedestrian area of Hoog- Catharijne and a pedestrian area of more usual appearance in the ancient city. These two semi-cores have very different features, which are discussed.
