Abstract

In another not Simon Thomas argues that the DOT's output based method of valuing the costs of traffic accidents is seriously deficient because it fails to take account of non- working time losses resulting directly from accident fatalities. He suggests a method whereby the current output- based approach may be improved. The purpose of this article is to highlight two elements of his analysis: 1. the hourly (monetary) value he attacks to non- working time, and 2. his exclusion of sleeping time.
