Abstract

The extent and seriousness of crime and vandalism on urban mass transit systems are analyzed and approaches for dealing with the problem are examined. The main components of vandalism costs are window breaking, damage to seats, damage to stationary facilities and graffiti. Six case studies of passenger attitudes are presented.
