Abstract

There is a reluctance to create new road signs and introduce new legal provisions and the tendency towards deregulation may favour the use of variable advisory and warning signs.Pro blems relating to the enforcement of regulations are discus- sed, as is the contention that the placing of road signs or the provision of other information does not detract from the responsibility of the road user. International law governing road traffic and the part played by EMCT are explained.
