Abstract
A test of reduction in the level of consciousness among 18 male subjects aged 22 to 29 was conducted during normal driving using continuous measurements by electro- encephalograph, electrocardiograph, and electro-oculogram. Six of the subjects showed a drop in consciousness during the driving task as indicated by the appearance of an alpha wave of 8- 13 Hz. Such waves appeared most frequently in subjects following the noontime meal.
