Abstract

This issue of Current Topics includes over 85 abstracts of reports, conference papers, books and journal articles which focus on the design and adaptation of buses, trains, coaches, cars, taxis and other vehicles, so that they are easily accessible to mobility handicapped people. Abstracts are included on many projects and schemes in the UK, Europe and the USA. Amongst the subjects covered are assessment of low floor bus initiatives in various local authorities and securing of wheelchairs in public service vehicles. These items have been selected from the material added to the Transport Research Laboratory's Library Database between 1996-2000. Much of the relevant English language published literature from the UK, USA, Australia and Europe is included; some of the non-UK literature is included courtesy of the OECD International Transport Research Documentation (ITRD) database. The previous edition, Current Topics in Transport CT 104 (see C 8025 S), covered abstracts of articles added to the database from 1990-1995.
