Abstract

This final project report summarises the work of the VERONICA project team on the technical, administrative, legal and road safety environment issues for the implementation of vehicle event data recorders (EDR) in Europe. The report is based on a large number of sub-reports which were worked out in three working groups during the years 2005 and 2006. The project team studied the issues of interest on a worldwide basis. The report assesses available technologies and standards and presents short and medium term recommendations for future EC and member state policy for EDR in the fields of technical, administrative, legal and road safety requirements. The supporting documents are available on request. (Author/publisher)
