Abstract

The evaluation of whole-life costs of the vehicle fleet is given. A simple method of calculating whole-life costs is presented, and is used to determine least cost lives when the costs of successive generations of vehicles are the same. It is demonstrated that the cost of departing from the least cost of life is usually small. Inflation does not affect vehicle choice or least cost lives.
