Abstract

Basic consideration in longitudinal control for small automated transit vehicle operating at moderate speeds and short headways are examined. The objective of this paper is the evaluation of control system designs applicable to vehicles using a linear induction motor (LIM) for propulsion and braking. Basic control philosophies and spacing policies and their implications are discussed.
