Abstract

The sequential behaviour of vehicles is investigated as the result of an optimization of various target functions in individual vehicles or in the system as a whole. The optimization conditions necessary for the target function are given, in the light of Euler's theorem, by the well known linear vehicle consequential equation and generalized nonlinear equations. This formulation may be extended to the analysis and optimal structure of automatic roads, but this possibility was not investigated further.
