Abstract

The sequence of events during a 30 m.p.h. vehicle frontal barrier impact is described. The structural characteristics of the vehicle are discussed with particular reference to the problem of absorbing as much of the impact energy as possible in the frontal structure in order to reduce the deceleration transmitted to the occupants.
