Vehicle impact attenuation by modular crash cushion.

Abstract

Details are given of the modular crash cushion a new protective device which consists of 55-gallon sight head drums the purpose of which is to stop a moving vehicle over a distance sufficient to allow a relatively low deceleration rote. Full-scale vehicle crash tests were conducted, results are presented and discussed.
