Abstract

An analysis is made of some data for the vehicle-mileages travelled in 1956 and 1962 in each of the States of the USA. The miles travelled per vehicle is somewhat lower in States with high levels of vehicle ownership per head. In every State, mileage per vehicle is greater than it is in Great-Britain. Between 1956 and 1962, mileage per vehicle did not change apprecciable over the USA as a whole. However, it rose in States in a small increase of vehicle ownership and probably fellin States with a large increase. The changes in miles per vehicles was also related to changes in average income per head.
