Abstract

Vehicle steering characteristics which may be undesirable in certain driving situations are discussed, An experiment carried out using the Melbourne University Variable Characteristic Car is described. A simple ECG was used to obtain eight drivers' physiological responses to changes in steering ratio and response time for negotiating a straight lane containing four difficult narrow sections.
