Abstract

The in-use condition of automobiles on the highway was studied. One primary objective was to assess the condition of vehicles in states having periodic motor vehicle inspection as compared with states having random inspection. It is concluded that the condition of vehicles in the states having periodic motor vehicle inspection was significantly better. This volume details the Pennsylvania and New Jersey data.
