Abstract
The safety belt is a very effective weapon in the battle against the lack of traffic safety. Hundreds of vehicle occupants have saved their lives by wearing them, thousands have prevented a stay in the hospital. In this booklet the positive effects of wearing seat belts is discussed. Attention is also given to misunderstanding and prejudices against the use of belts. Furthermore the effects of other safety features in cars are discussed, such as safety belts and child safety seats on the rear seats of the car, windscreens of laminated glass and head rests.
