Abstract

Children must go to school; this is a duty imposed by society. Usually children can only meet this obligation by making use of the road. Wherever that road may be, the road is not a symbol of safety. In addition children of any age are not known as road users having a great sense of responsibility. This means that most parents live with the knowledge that each day their children have to go to school, and have to meet the danger of traffic when using the road. The government of the netherlands wishes to help the local authorities by financing some concrete countermeasures, mostly in the form of the modification of the infrastructure. This booklet gives an overview of the procedure to be followed. An information day was held. Introductions to that day and more detailed information from the municipalities of Doorn and Oosterhout are presented.
