Abstract
It is very obvious that road users may rely on the proper performance of traffic lights. It therefore is inevitable that strict specifications be devised for the mechanicand electronic components. Safeguards should prevent conflicting aspects to be shown which result form break-downs of the equipment. The article deals with ways and means by which proper functioning is controlled.
