Abstract
In many cities taxis are allowed to use traffic lanes which are exclusive for public transport. Besides aspects of traffic engineering there are also aspects of traffic safety. An accident analysis is done in Amsterdam on those places where taxis use such lanes. It is concluded that taxis on such lanes are less recognizable as vehicles with special priority and that most taxi drivers are driving too fast. Other results and recommendations for education and enforcement are.presented.
