Abstract

As part of a study on feasibility of tunnel lighting, a literature survey is made answering the following questions:1. Is the masking effect of objects in tunnel entrances by the surrounding purely a matter of light scattering in the eyemedia or has it to be attributed as well to lateral neural suppression?2. What is the best formula for the dependency of the equivalent veiling luminance on the glare angle?3. What is the effect of age on that relation? For Part II and III see PB 27788 and PB 24311.
