As part of the activities of the C.R.O.W working group on "maintenance of porous asphalt", tests have been carried out in 1987, on dutch and belgian motorways, which involved the treatment of porous asphalt with fog seal (bitumen emulsion). The aim was to spray the plucked surface with a watered bitumen emulsion in such a way that it would soak into the pores, and cover the stones with a thin bitumen film. After execution of the tests, skid resistance measurements were carried out. It appeared that the belgian and dutch test sections did not comply with Dutch standards. (A)
