Abstract

The new standards on air quality in respect to traffic are aimed at limiting the emission. In (urban) situations, where high traffic density leads to admissible concentrations being exceeded, local authorities are expected to solve the problems by traffic measures. However, there is a danger that increased attention for environmental quality will result in a less integrated approach to traffic and environmental problems. A new traffic and transportplan would help to avoid a sectoral approach of single problems.
