Abstract

The interrelationship between traffic and urban land use is discussed; the imaginary town Fixyville is used to describe this relationship. It is argued that improvements in the accessibility of a neighbourhood cause land values and rents to rise. The spatial distribution of citizens is discussed in relation to cost of commuting.
