Abstract

Speed, efficiency, individual autonomy and competition are the dominant social norms and values which also can be seen in the behaviour in traffic of the individual motorist. In consequence of this informal and behavioural norms arise, which can be in conflict with the official traffic regulations. The consequences of this are discussed from a social and psychological point of view.
