Abstract

In a population survey an attempt was made whether people living on a street with more traffic (noise) had a higher risk to get cardiovascular diseases. The survey was limited to housewives aged 40-49 years. The results are discussed as regards whether traffic noise can be causal factor for cardiovascular disease. It is emphasized that the absolute exposure to traffic noise and the difference in exposure may have been too small to demonstrate an effect.
