Abstract

A cost benefit analysis is presented to show which projects must have the priority in the governmental policy for traffic safety measures in the Netherlands. It is not possible to bring the immaterial damage of people to the dimension of money, but the damage to the community expressed in money is so big, that the traffic safety is a problem of the first rank. It is concluded that it is theoretical possible to give a scheme of priorities for traffic safety measure, and that the existing practical problems can be solved.
