Abstract

A short analysis of statistical data on fatal accidents on State highways in the Netherlands is presented. Some main conclusions are: motorways are safer than other roads; fatal injuries in August amount twice as many as in April; from midnight to 6 a.m. is a relatively dangerous time, and use of alcohol in the week-end is 1.8 times as frequent as for the rest of the week.
