Statistical data are collected of hospital patients which were injured in a traffic accident during 1970-1979 in the Netherlands. First emphasis is laid on the question if traffic accident patients differ from other accident patients (number, age, sex, nature of injury, average time of hospitalisation and lethality) Secondly is described how the group of traffic accident patients is composed and which modifications took place during 1970-1979. There after attention is paid to the total group of traffic victims: fatalities, injuries and patients.
