Abstract

Interest in roundabouts has increased over the last few years, with almost fifty new roundabouts being constructed in the Netherlands between 1987- 1988. These roundabouts are usually smaller than the earlier constructed ones. New characteristics include: (1) carriageway with one traffic lane on the roundabout; (2) priority on the roundabout; (3) no complex traffic situations (three or four intersection legs); and (4) radial (90 degree) connection of the legs on the roundabout.
