Abstract

Summary and review of results of various Dutch studies on this subject are presented. Attention is paid to the total number of visitors, number of visitors by car, maximum flow and parking demand. It is found that hyper-markets generate more car traffic per floor area unit than shopping centres do. Consequently parking demand there is higher. Also opening hours during the evening seem to reduce the Saturday peak parking demands. The relative value of these figures produced is underlined.
