Abstract

Noise caused by road traffic is dependent on the number of passenger cars and trucks. Noise levels can be calculated once these data are available. This article shows that for this purpose it is not necessary to execute traffic counts at a 100% level. It appears that there are possibilities to save up to 90% on staff; a shrewd counting programme is essential, however.
