Abstract

Traffic and transport are very important for the economy and for the well being of people, but there are also much disadvantages. Queues, environmental pollution and traffic accidents are only part of it. By the increasing mobility the disadvantageous side-effects will increase more and more in the near future. To solve some of the problems an active policy is conducted by the national government. To collect data what the best can be done to achieve this goal and to know how the measures taken are perceived by the public, each year a survey is made in all the provinces. Points of attention are: traffic accidents, traffic safety, police enforcement, running speed, driving while influenced, safety belts, car drivers, moped drivers, and cyclists. This report contains statistical data for the province of Groningen compared with the national data.
