Abstract

Recent research on traffic accident data at intersections by the province of Gelderland gave the following results. The number of accidents on intersections without traffic lights is more or less proportional to the traffic flow on the side streets; there is almost no connection with the traffic flows on the main road. There are more accidents on crossroads than on T-junctions. The article shows how accident data being used in putting up priority schemes for improving traffic safety at intersections.
