Abstract

Traffic safety policy should be based in particular on a good analysis of the traffic accident situation. Therefore a number of data should be available per accident as well as per accident category. The number of fatalities, injuries and the amount of serious damage and immaterial damage must be obtained. For such registration the policy is responsible. Besides these data it is desirable to know about people's adaptation to traffic inside built up areas. That is, ways in which people either do or do not feel safe in traffic. This aspect of traffic safety should be taken into account increasingly in the future. A better systematic and uniform registration thereof must be developed.
