Abstract

A German method for research is tested for its usability in the Netherlands. A number of residential areas was selected and the needed data were obtained. The German method tries to quantify the traffic safety in residential areas by a mathematical model, with the accident rate per 1000 inhabitants as a criterion for traffic safety. The German method is described and the results are presented. The model shows for some residential areas forecasts which differ from the real values.
