A report is given on 75 patients who had received clinical treatment since 1958 for eye and lid injuries, sustained in traffic accidents. The number of injured persons shows a rapid increase since 1962. The accidents take place predominantly at night and the dusk or dawn and occur rather frequently by skidding of the car against an obstacle at the side of the road (for example a tree). The co-driver is particularly endangered. The injuries are caused almost exclusively by the shattering glass of the windshield. Safety belts were not used in any case. Juveniles where predominant in these cases.
