Abstract

Transport reflects the social and economic relations of every period in history. Governments are very often not neutral. Interventions go even further than in other economic activities. The character of governmental intervention in transport market depends on the political system and/or the political establishment of a government. In this light the Dutch transport policy since the end of the Napoleontic wars is analyzed and evaluated.
