Abstract
In this report an account is given of a study into possible relationships between characteristics of motorcyclists, their types of motorcycle, accidents, and road and environment factors. The data involving the accident population was compared with corresponding data involving the entire population of Dutch motorcyclists. Risk figures of the following three motorcyclist categories were related to motorcycle characteristics: young inexperienced motorcyclists, older inexperienced motorcyclists, and older more experienced motorcyclists.
