Abstract

The information of FM multiplex broadcasting, which is one of the three media sources of VICS (Vehicle Information and Communication System) information supply, is transmitted to wide ranging service areas as three types of information. Of the three types, the Level 2 simple graphic is information prepared by VICS itself. This information was prepared after examining the structure of the graphics, the ease of viewing the display, and transmission capacity. The authors carried out an evaluation concerning simple graphics while reflecting the voices of users. New model graphics were then prepared based on this evaluation. Meanwhile, they are also striving towards enhancing the information and initiatives to counter the variety of issues faced by FM multiplex broadcasting. FM multiplex information has been well received by users, and evaluated as having usage value. The effects of VICS information are expected to infiltrate many users, and the number of users is expected to increase even further in the future.
