Abstract

This book aims to help older drivers to continue driving safely and to alert them to changing personal factors that may make it unsafe to continue driving. The information here will help you to understand the changes that may be occurring. Along with lifestyle factors, this information is important when considering the future or current needs of yourself, an older relative or a friend. Following the advice contained here is a good start to remaining mobile. Section 1 contains a questionnaire that will help you to assess your own driving and to identify possible problems. It also explains your obligations as a licence holder and Victoria’s licensing system. Other sections contain information on health issues, medicines, practical hints for safer driving, and planning for when it may be necessary to reduce or cease driving.
